Karl Popper : Everything You Know Is Not Yet Wrong

Karl Popper : Everything You Know Is Not Yet Wrong

 Karl Popper

Finally, I’d like to touch on second framework that I’ve found helpful in conceptualizing what science does.

It would be impossible to chronicle the philosophy or history of science without discussing the work of Karl Popper (1902-1994); he often forms one pole of any significant review. I don’t have the chops to do justice to 70 years of discussion of his ideas even in broad outline. What follows is a pinhead’s view of Popper on science.

Two points –

Kuhn's Model of Science

Kuhn's Model of Science

Thomas Kuhn

I'm utilizing a view of science advanced by Thomas Kuhn in his classic work Structure of Scientific Revolution. Although there has been decades of discussion and qualifications, Kuhn's work remains the paradigm for scientific paradigms.

Science in Kuhn’s view proceeds in two modes: normal science and revolutionary science.
